Professional Background

Personal background

I was born and raised in Nigeria (West Africa). After living in Canada and Qatar for a few years as a child, I went to the United States in 1993 to study computer science at Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge. I graduated from LSU in December 1996, and then I went to Chicago for the next two and half years. I lived and worked there with Jesus People USA, doing computer systems work and human resources administration.

It’s different for other people; but we in our green youth have to settle the eternal questions first of all. That’s what we care about.– Dostoyevsky, The Brothers Karamazov, chapter 34.

In August 1999 I returned to LSU to pursue a PhD in management information systems (MIS), which is basically the study and application of computer technologies to further the goals of an organization. I finished in fall 2003, and moved to Montréal that term to work as an assistant professor in MIS at Concordia University. I took a leave of absence from 2006 to 2008 to attend a Christian training in Anaheim, California.

Throughout the past twenty centuries thousands of precious lives, heart treasures, high positions, and golden futures have been “wasted” upon the Lord Jesus. To those who love Him in such a way He is altogether lovely and worthy of their offering. What they have poured upon Him is not a waste but a fragrant testimony of His sweetness. — Recovery Version footnote on Matthew 26:8

After I returned to Concordia in 2008, I got married and started my family. I received tenure and was promoted to associate professor in 2010.

In December 2016, my family moved to the Paris, France, area and since January 2017, I have been an associate professor in information systems at SKEMA Business School.
