Reigning like Joseph
Gen 41:40 You shall be over my household, and according to your word all my people shall be ruled; only in the throne will I be greater than you. 41 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.
In this story, Pharaoh typifies God, and Joseph typifies the overcoming believer. God created man in His own image that he would have dominion over God’s earth. God wants us to rule over the earth and to represent God in His authority. This ruling is not like the ruling by force of the government; rather, it is a ruling and reigning in supplying life to God’s people. We see this in Genesis 47 where Joseph supplied food to all the hungry people, and acquired all of Egypt’s livestock, land, and people for Pharaoh. This typifies that our ruling and reigning for God is not to gain something for ourselves; it is absolutely, 100% for God’s own glory. Thus, God’s destiny for us believers is that we would become kings in life to supply God’s people with spiritual food, and that this reigning would be absolutely for God’s glory, and would not for ourselves.
We are in the process of becoming a king to reign in Christ’s life!
